About the Authors
Brooke Carbaugh
Brooke Carbaugh is from Orbisonia, Pennsylvania and will be a junior at Hope College in the fall. Brooke is an English Secondary Education student with a History Education minor. On campus, she is a resident assistant in Gilmore Hall, an intern for the Big Read Lakeshore, a Klooster Writing Center assistant, part of the education department’s Tech Team, and a member of the Dorian sorority. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, puzzles, and fishing. Brooke intends to pursue a career in the education field after graduation teaching high school English or history.
Grace Pettinger
Grace Pettinger is from Mount Vernon, Iowa. She is a senior at Hope College studying History with a minor in Writing. She has worked at the Joint Archives for three years as an Archives Research Assistant. She also was the Dryfhout Curatorial Intern at the Kruizenga Art Museum. Grace devotes most of her free time to being a member of the Hope College Volleyball team, bike riding, watercoloring, and drinking coffee! After her time at Hope, Grace plans to pursue a graduate degree in Archival Management or Library Science.
Maria Seidl
Maria Seidl is from White Lake, Michigan, and is a rising senior at Hope College. She is pursuing a double major in History and Sociology. She is the Student Assistant Residential Director of Cook Hall, President of the Women’s Empowerment Organization, and a member of the Dorian sorority. She is working as an Archives Research Assistant at the Joint Archives and an Office Assistant at the Registrar’s Office. Maria is passionate about dogs, coffee, sustainability, and her Grandma’s farm. After graduating, she plans on entering the Peace Corps and then getting a master’s degree in Social Work.
